Grant Family-Family Session

As I mentioned in my About section, I'm a 3rd grade teacher. I teach at a great school with some really wonderful & passionate teachers. Even though I absolutely love what I do, I am not a morning person at all. Once I'm in my classroom I'm good to go and ready for the day. However, that walk from my car to my classroom door feels like the most impossible feat (unless I'm running late, then I turn into a track star) as I'm still trying to wake up. As I open the door to the 5th grade hallway and drag my feet across the bright white tiled floor, I am almost 90% sure I will hear a loud, "GEEOOOOOOORGEEEEEE" across the hall from the 4th grade hall. It's none other than Shamane.

Shamane taught 4th grade on our campus last year and will be teaching 5th this coming year. She is an absolute joy to work with and her passion for her students is so easy and clear to see. Wanna know truly how awesome she is? She won teacher of the year! Shamane always knows how to have a good laugh and make you enjoy your day. She's been wanting to take family pictures for a while now and we finally got around to it last week.  I met them at Prairie Creek Park in Richardson for a morning session that happened to fall on her birthday. Shamane and her husband Andre have two adorable 3 year old twin girls. Photographing little kids is always a tough feat, but I appreciate how much it teaches me about photography & being patient. I had a blast with the Grant family, it's so apparent that they have so much love for each other.  Take a peek at some of my favorites from their shoot!

Katelyn-Portrait Session

This week I had the opportunity to do a portrait session with Katelyn. Portraits are my favorite kind of pictures to take so I was super excited when Katelyn reached out to me. One thing I really love about photography is getting to meet new people from different walks of life. It's always a little awkward when I first meet a brand new client but after about 5 minutes it's like you're hanging out with an old friend. Katelyn is a soon to be senior from Rockwall and she needed some good portraits for her upcoming pageant. How cool is that? She's competing in the National American Miss Pageant this month. One thing she really wanted for her pictures this year is for them to really portray more of her personality. It's kind of hard for you to tell who you are based off of a picture alone, but Katelyn is awesome and brought props. If you know me, you know I love incorporating props into photos.

Katelyn had a 2 hour session so first we went to downtown Rockwall and then we went to Harry Meyers Park for the second outfit. One thing I loved about photographing Katlyn is her confidence. She was so fierce and confident in herself which is such a refreshing thing to see in a high school girl. Just from the 2 hours of hanging out with her I can tell she's headed off to great places.  Katelyn, I had a great time meeting you & hearing your story. Check out some of my favorites from this pretty little lady's shoot!

Jainy & Cortney-Maternity Session

Welcome to my very first blog post! I couldn't think of a better pair to start this blog off with. Jainy is my older sister & Cortney is my wonderful brother in law. For those of you that know me, you know that my sister and I are extremely close. All of our friends that have sisters always look at us strangely with how close we can be sometimes. Jainy's patience with me is one of the main reasons we never fight. She married Cortney last July and I couldn't think of a more perfect person to compliment my sweet and loving sister. I did an e-session for them last year and was so excited to take pictures of another big milestone in their lives.

When I found out they were going to have a baby, I did the happiest of all happy dances with tears of joy coming down my face. My sister has always acted like a second mother to me. Not in the annoying, nagging type of way though. She has always supplied me with affection and always took care of me financially when I didn't have a job. My sister is such a positive influence & always constantly cheering me on in any new project I try to tackle whether it be a half marathon or starting a small photography business. Jainy always let me tag along with her friends and always made sure I was included. She's my protector and defender from any kind of harm. It's these traits that make me know she's going to be the perfect mother. I really don't know who I'd be without the support of my sister. Check out some of my favorites from our shoot!

Baby Joseph, I cannot wait to meet you & surround you with the same love your momma gave to me. Love you with all my heart already :)
